A tractor cutting weeds apparently sparked a three-acre field fire near Jordan Landing on Monday afternoon.

The 3 p.m. blaze sent plumes of smoke across the Salt Lake Valley from its location near the 7800 S. 3600 West shopping center.

West Jordan firefighters, whose station is right across the street from the field, had the flames out within 15 minutes, said Battalion Chief Steve Holmes.

Besides the field, the only property damage was to the tractor, Holmes said.
