The sister of Joshua Powell has written a book detailing her experience with her brother in the aftermath of the disappearance of his wife, Susan Cox Powell.
A Light In Dark Places, by Jennifer Graves and writer Emily Clawson, also details Graves' childhood growing up with her brother and their father, Steve Powell.
The family had captivated national attention upon the 2009 disappearance of Susan Cox Powell from her West Valley City home. Josh Powell killed his two young sons and himself, blowing up his house in Graham, Wash., in February 2012.
Graves' self-published book was released Monday night at an event at Paradigm High School in South Jordan. It is available on Amazon.com.
"For Jennifer Graves, Josh's sister, the nightmare started long before Susan's disappearance," the book description reads. "From her experiences growing up in the Powell family to the terrifying moment when she first started to believe her brother was a killer, she relied on her faith to stay strong."
A portion of the book's proceeds will go to the Susan Cox Powell Foundation and to the The ChainBreakers Foundation for domestic-violence prevention.
