Three people remained in critical condition and two others all from Las Vegas, Nev. were listed as serious Tuesday, the day after their speeding SUV blew a tire and rolled on Interstate 15 in southern Utah's Beaver County.
Utah Highway Patrol Cpl. Todd Johnson said the Ford Explorer the five were riding in crashed about 9 a.m. Monday on southbound I-15 near mile post 99.
While failure of the right front tire was reported, UHP troopers believed excessive speed was a contributing factor in the accident, in which four occupants were ejected.
The driver, Patrick A. Clayton, 31, remained in critical condition Tuesday at Intermountain Medical Center in Murray, where he was taken by helicopter. Also critical Tuesday at Primary Children's Medical Center in Salt Lake City were Patrick and Alexa Clayton, ages 6 and 4.
Eva Enriquez Plascen, 26, and Jorge Gallardo Enriquez, age 9, were in serious condition at local hospitals, Johnson said.
