Water for salamanders

In the forest of Weber Canyon on the trail to Hidden Lake there is a concrete box with a crack in the lid. Dad told me there used to be salamanders in it.

Whenever we go up that trail we look in the box to see if there are any salamanders. I've never seen any; it's too dry.

I wanted to fill the box with water and put salamanders back in it, but Dad said it wouldn't stay wet for long because we're using too much of the canyon's water. If too much water gets pumped to cabins the water table goes down.

Those cabins are happy, but nature is not. Our cabin is surrounded by nature; that's what makes it so fun. If nature isn't happy for too long, we won't be happy.

Please use less water. I want to see salamanders.
