Rocky Mountain Power spokesman Dave Eskelsen said the outage, which came as temperatures remained in the low-90s as nightfall approached, affected customers in the Roy and Hooper areas.

Equipment failure at a local substation — specifically cables feeding power from the station to the area's distribution lines — triggered the outage at 6:28 p.m. Thursday. Crews worked through much of the night to restore service by 3:55 a.m. Friday.

Rocky Mountain Power, the Weber County Sheriff's Office and local police said they had not received reports of any heat-related medical complaints during the outage.
