Annex Millcreek

I live in the area of Millcreek Township that is considering annexation by Holladay. It is a small section of Millcreek Township, adjacent to Holladay. I support the annexation effort because:

1. Cost. Based upon the 2012 tax schedules, the cost of municipal services would be 43 percent of what we currently pay in the county. Salt Lake County is bloated, and our taxes are spent in other parts of the valley, not in Millcreek.

2. A sense of community. Many of my neighbors and I have always felt that we live in the Holladay area anyway. The Holladay city office is a mile from my house. The county offices are 15 miles across the valley.

3. Representation. Currently, we have approximately one County Council member per 123,000 citizens. In Holladay, we would have one City Council member per 7,000 citizens.

4. Feasibility. If we citizens in this area determine that we want to be in Holladay, the city says that adding us will be "revenue neutral" and that we would be welcomed.

For me, annexation makes the most sense.
