Re "Hatch calls Obama 'weak' over NSA leaker" (Tribune, June 30):
Sen. Orrin Hatch says the president is weak. Who is he kidding?
Hatch says that all recent presidents from Ronald Reagan on would not have put up with other nations refusing to extradite National Security Agency leaker Edward Snowden.
Let me remind the senator that those past presidents had their intelligence scandals, too. Reagan had the Iran-Contra affair in 1986, in which his administration secretly and illegally facilitated the sale of arms to Iran to fund the Nicaraguan Contras. President George W. Bush's administration outed CIA agent Valerie Plame in July of 2003.
When Hatch talks about weakness, he'd better refresh his memory before casting a stone.
