The thing missing from the discussion about raising Salt Lake City property taxes is the $18 million spent on design fees and other non-construction costs for the new Utah Performing Arts Center theater.

Mayor Ralph Becker had no choice but to veto the City Council's tax hike. He's the one who promised no tax increase for the theater, and it's only a matter of time before people start putting the two together.
