You would think that there would be dancing in the streets by clean energy and clean air groups concerning Barack Obama's "Reduce Carbon Pollution Agenda," outlined in his Tribune op-ed ("The world we leave behind," Opinion, July 2).

We know too well the effects of an increasingly warming world: fires, droughts, dirty air, threatened personal health and a suffering economy. Isn't the net effect of less pollution what we stand for? Finally, we have an environmental president who is even willing to bypass Congress for what is in our long-term best interest.

Obama asks us to speak out in support of his proposals. If we fail to act this very day, then our inaction or postponement of task may well cost us dearly. Where are the rallies and flood of emails and calls to the president? Can we summon the courage to be on board and tell him "Thank you"?
