Sand Hollow Complex Park officials have identified a man who drowned July 4 as Frederick Johnson, 27, of Hildale.

Laura Melling, park manager, said Johnson was swimming back from some rocks at the state park's reservoir near Hurricane on Thursday afternoon when he began to have difficulty.

A group of boaters saw Johnson struggling, but by the time they reached him, he was unconscious and could not be revived.

Johnson was pronounced dead shortly after arriving at Dixie Regional Medical Center in St. George, officials said.
