Why a tax increase?

So, Salt Lake City wants to increase our taxes. And why? Oh, they need to improve roads, tennis courts and some other things.

Let's be serious. You don't ask for a tax hike unless there is an identified specific need.

A specific need requires a responsible budget. A budget drives realistic spending. Then, and only then, seek appropriate funding to support those needs.

Finally, hold public hearings to test the validity of the needs, the budget and the spending mechanism.

A family must follow a similar pattern and so ought the mayor and members of the Salt Lake City Council.
