Salt Lake City police are asking for the public's help to find a bank robber who was wearing a distinctive red mask.

The man walked into a Zions Bank branch at 910 W. 2100 South on Thursday morning, brandished a weapon and demanded cash from a teller, according to a police news release. He then left and was last seen heading north on foot, the release adds.

Investigators believe people in the area, including patrons of nearby businesses, may have seen him. Police ask anyone who knows his whereabouts to call 801-799-3000.

People also can submit anonymous tips by texting TIPSLCPD plus the information to CRIMES (274367) with the reference case 13-108715.

He was a thin, black man who was 6 feet tall, wearing a red mask, light blue or white shirt, dress pants, dress shoes and a multi-colored beanie, according to the release.
