In 2011, our legislators saw fit to award $300,000 to Big Game Forever and Sportsmen For Fish and Wildlife. They did it all over again in 2012. That makes $600,000 of taxpayer money which apparently is for the purpose of keeping wolves out of Utah. Wolves haven't made Utah their home since the 1930s so I guess these organizations are doing a hell of a good job.
Meanwhile, Gov. Gary Herbert has received $20,000 in campaign donations from Big Game Forever and its larger parent organization. No audit has ever been done on the disposition of the tax revenue for 2011 or 2012, so we don't know exactly how the money was spent. And unless we get some transparency, we may never know.
This $600,000 could be used to hire 25 teachers. I like real live teachers better than imaginary wolves.
