A tree fell over Main Street on Monday afternoon in downtown Salt Lake City, disrupting traffic.

The tree fell over the southbound lanes between 200 and 300 South about 3:20 p.m., dispatchers said.

Rebekah Hepworth watched the tree fall from a nearby office building. "I watched it go 'boom,' " she said. A southbound white car came to a sudden stop right in front of the tree, pausing before making its way around on the TRAX line, she said. "That car sat there stunned for a moment."

Hepworth said she stopped to take pictures for a while but that 15 to 20 minutes after she went back to work, crews had cleared the road.

The road was clear for traffic by 4:30 p.m.
