UPD: Jordan River body was missing Draper man

An autopsy and forensic tests have identified the badly decomposed remains found late last week along the Jordan River as those of a Draper man.

Unified Police Lt. Justin Hoyal said Tuesday that the State Medical Examiner's Office was still trying to determine the cause of death for 40-year-old Justin C. Huntsman of Draper.

"However, we can say we do not now believe homicide was a factor," he added, but declined to discuss specifically if investigators suspect the death may have been accidental or self-inflicted.

"That's still all part of the investigation," he said.

Huntsman, who has no known connection to the family of industrialist Jon Huntsman Sr., was found in thick brush and trees last Friday along the Jordan River and a dirt access road near 700 West and 9000 South, Hoyal said.

He had been reported missing to Draper police on June 30.

The decomposition indicated the body had been in the area at least a couple or more weeks, and was such that detectives could not immediately determine age, race or gender.
