A stately courthouse

After reading the barrage of letters berating the design of the new federal courthouse ("The cost of ugly," July 9; "Zion's cracker box," July 12), I feel I must come to its defense.
I find it stately, graceful and actually quite elegant. I like its simple lines and muted coloring, and from what I can see so far, its modern details will also prove nice touches.
I, for one, am sick to death of the stucco-and-stacked-stone sameness that seems to have pervaded every structure being built in the valley.
The schools look like gas stations, which look like strip malls, which look like office buildings, which, meaning no offense here, look like Crown Burgers.
