Cooper's Run and Wasatch Wildflower Festival offering live music this weekend

Here are two events this weekend with live music offerings:

1. The fourth annual Cooper's Run is happening Saturday, July 27 in Orem. In addition to the 5k and separate "Family Fun Run," participants can expect a carnival atmosphere featuring refreshments, a dunk­tank, arts & crafts, fire engines, train rides, a special visit from the AirMed helicopter and live music. Cooper's Run was established in 2010 in memory of four­-year-­old Cooper Kofford, whose accidental death at his family's Orem home in 2009 brought newfound respect and admiration for the city's emergency responders. In the first three years, over 3,700 runners, families and friends turned out to support the cause, raising over $75,000 for Cooper's Foundation. The Run will be held at 1035 South 800 East, Orem. The 5K (3.1 mile) run/walk is scheduled to begin at 8:30 am, followed by a separate (shorter) fun walk/run that will begin at 10 a.m.

2. The annual Wasatch Wildflower Festival will run July 26-28 through Big and Little Cottonwood Canyons. Hikers should plan to arrive early with water, sturdy shoes, snacks, sun protection and layers of clothing for hiking at altitude. Walks with a chairlift or Tram ride require a $5 donation to the Cottonwood Canyons Foundation. The Wasatch Wildflower Festival is a collaboration among the Cottonwood Canyons Foundation, Snowbird Ski and Summer Resort, Alta Community Enrichment, Alta Ski Area, Brighton Resort, Solitude Mountain Resort and the U.S. Forest Service. The Wasatch Wildflower Festival will stop at Brighton and Solitude on Friday, July 26, Alta on Saturday, July 27, and Snowbird on Sunday, July 28. Live music from Lerraine and the Soul Vibrations will be at Solitude Resort from 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. on July 26.
