Late last year, the Utah Department of Health launched a pilot program that provides free autism treatment for 250 children with autism, selected by lottery. Most families in the program are satisfied so far, but complex paperwork and a dearth of qualified tutors have caused families headaches, and in a state that leads the nation in autism cases, advocates say the limited program is not enough.
