A 17-year-old girl was taken to the hospital Saturday after she lost but then regained consciousness after a tubing accident on the Provo River.
Sgt. Spencer Cannon of the Utah County Sheriff's Office said it was unclear what exactly happened to the girl because she had become separated from a group she was tubing with before the accident. It was possible that she may have hit her head, Cannon said.
Sometime at about 4 p.m. however, the group found her lying unconscious near the shore, on the side of the river farthest from the Provo Canyon Road.
She was found about 13 miles up the canyon, Cannon said. Search and rescue crews from Utah County retrieved the girl and brought to the other side. She was then taken to Utah Valley Regional Medical Center by an ambulance provided by North Fork Fire Department.
By the time she was put into the ambulance the girl was conscious again. Her condition after arriving at the hospital, however, was not known Saturday evening, Cannon said.
