A stretch of Interstate 15 near Point of the Mountain reopened Sunday night after it buckled during the afternoon heat — again.

Utah Department of Transportation reported that the two left lanes of northbound I-15 on the Salt Lake County side were damaged during the afternoon at mile post 287, which is about 15200 South. Temperatures had climbed to near 100 degrees.

UDOT shut down the lanes to repair them, causing delays of up to 45 minutes around Point of the Mountain.

Crews reopened the lanes by 9:50 p.m.

It's been a hard summer for Utah highways. Earlier this month, heat damaged a lane of northbound I-15 in Clearfield, the 600 North onramp to southbound I-15, U.S. 40 at mile post 1 in Summit County and a lane of Interstate 215 near 3400 South. In June, two lanes of I-15 buckled near Bluffdale
