Russian organizers published the full competition schedule Monday, 200 days before the Feb. 7 opening of the Winter Games.
The Feb. 19 men's giant slalom should finish before 4 p.m Sochi time. That's 5 a.m. in Park City, where likely favorite Ligety lives. He's a four-time World Cup champion in the event.
The women's slalom gold medal will be decided during daytime hours in the Colorado hometown of ski star Mikaela Shiffrin, who won titles at the world championships and World Cup last season. At the Olympics, she will likely compete at night Feb. 21 in the Rosa Khutor resort. Slalom medals are expected to be decided about 9 p.m. local time, or 10 a.m. in the 18-year-old Shiffrin's hometown of Vail.
Australia's O'Grady calls it a career
cycling • Australian rider Stuart O'Grady has announced his retirement, one day after completing a record-tying 17th Tour de France. The 39-year-old O'Grady ended a 19-year professional career after a strong performance by his Orica GreenEDGE team in this year's Tour. Teammate Simon Gerrans won the third stage and O'Grady stood on the podium when the Australian-based outfit won the team time trial in the fourth stage. He has competed in the Tour every year since 1997, matching American George Hincapie's Tour record of 17 appearances.
China dominatesat world finals
DIVING • China swept both diving gold medals at the world championships Monday in Barcelona, Spain, with Li Shixin defending his men's 1-meter springboard title and Chen Ruolin and Liu Huixia winning the women's 10-meter synchronized platform. Li totaled 460.95 points through six dives after rallying from a sub-par start. Four-time European champion Illya Kvasha of Ukraine took silver with 434.30, while Alejandro Chavez of Mexico won bronze with 431.55.
