Do the opposite

State Sen. Aaron Osmond's recent Senate site blog most certainly does not provide a practical argument for ending compulsory education in Utah ("Utah educators question pitch to end compulsory school attendance," Tribune, July 17). Instead, it provides a case study in questionable cause and unwarranted conclusion.
Osmond's objectives for re-evaluating the public education system have little if anything to do with whether a child's education is compulsory. By the end of the blog, one is left feeling suspicious about Osmond's real reason for wanting to end compulsory education, and whether the more he argues for repeal, the more we ought to do the opposite.
