Bela Fleck, Kaki King, ETHEL & others part of Weber State Cultural Affairs series

The fall/winter season for Weber State University's Cultural Affairs series has just been announced.

With performances from well-known performers like Bela Fleck (in a new project with crossover string quartet Brooklyn Rider), it should be a good year.

Other performances on the series include "Penelope" (a song cycle by composer Sarah Kirkland Snider based on Homer's "The Odyssey"), featuring My Brightest Diamond singer Shara Wordan and musicians from the Salt Lake Symphony under the direction of Robert Baldwin.

The Gay Men's Chorus will bring their "It Gets Better" project to Ogden in October for a week of residency work to address bullying. The residency will culminate with a public performance on October 11 at Peery's Egyptian Theater.

The string quartet ETHEL will be joined by virtuoso guitarist Kaki King with a program that is anchored by a re-imagining of Bach's Brandenburg Concerto No. 6 and featuring other works as well. ETHEL was recently in Park City with Todd Rundgren.

The California Guitar Trio is touring with the Montreal Guitar Trio and both will visit Ogden.

Hip, young sextet yMusic will bring a varied and contemporary program in November.
