Thirty pigs started out on that ill-fated trip down a northern Utah stretch of Interstate 15. Six of them would not be going "Wee, wee, wee" all the way home.
The Utah Highway Patrol says the porkers were in a trailer being hauled by a pickup truck about 6:30 p.m. Thursday in the southbound lanes of the freeway near Ogden. That is when one of the trailer's side rails came loose, spilling 11 pigs onto the asphalt.
Six were dead at the scene; the other five were not seriously hurt and were loaded back onto the trailer.
Traffic through the area of mile post 348 was slowed for about an hour while cleanup of the scene was underway.
Whether or not the surviving pigs made it to market, or if any had roast beef, bread or jam, was unknown.
