Utah Valley track & field athlete Sally Hansen Jensen became one of 58 student-athletes from around the country to receive a postgraduate scholarship from the NCAA earlier this week, $7,500 to help cover the costs of her schooling.

"Getting a scholarship like this is something you think will never happen to you, and I am incredibly grateful to the NCAA and honored to have received it," Jensen said. "I am also so thankful for my coaches, trainers, and teammates at UVU who were always 100 percent supportive of my academic goals. They, along with my professors, family, and husband, were such a huge part in pushing me to be successful."

Jensen graduated from UVU in April with a 4.0 grade-point average. She became the school's first-ever student-athlete valedictorian, for the College of Science and Health.

Jensen plans to enter graduate school at Arizona State University this fall.
