Salt Lake Tabernacle organists part of 'Organ Fest VI' in The Cathedral of the Madeleine on August 16.

Local radio station Classical 89 will present "Organ Fest VI" in The Cathedral of the Madeleine on August 16. The concert, now in its sixth year, features organists from the Salt Lake Tabernacle – Richard Elliott, Clay Christiansen, Andrew Unsworth, Bonnie Goodliffe, and Linda Margetts.

The concert is free and will be presented at The Cathedral of the Madeleine at 331 E. South Temple in Salt Lake City on Friday, August 16 at 8 p.m. This event is a gift to the community from Classical 89, The Cathedral of the Madeleine, and the organists. From a press release: The Tabernacle Organists will mark several notable composers' anniversaries. Included is a piece performed by Clay Christiansen, "Let All Mortal Flesh Keep Silent," arranged by J. J. Keeler, this year being the 100th anniversary of his birth. Keeler, who headed the organ department at Brigham Young University for many years, taught three of the five current members of the Tabernacle organ staff. The program finishes with Wagner's "Grand March" from Tannhauser played by Richard Elliott, in this bicentenary of Wagner's birth. Tabernacle Organist, Richard Elliott said, "We are looking forward to participating on this year's Organ Fest, number six, and playing The Cathedral of the Madeleine organ with its glorious acoustics and stirring pipe organ built by Kenneth Jones of Bray, Ireland. There will be lots of variety on the program!" Donations in support of organ programming on Classical 89, including Pipedreams (airs Sundays at 9 p.m.), will be welcomed.
