KUTV won in late news and most other time periods during the July sweeps. KSL won at 5 and 6 p.m.
But before anyone gets all excited about the local news ratings during the July sweeps, keep one thing in mind they're pretty much meaningless. And not just because viewership levels are low in the summer.
The whole reason to have ratings is to sell advertising. And nobody used the July results to sell advertising.
If you do well in July, you claim it's significant. If you did poorly, you claim it's insignificant. Which it is, for the most part.
