NFL: Cardinals' Darnell Dockett shows his wild side

Arizona Cardinals defensive tackle Darnell Dockett is apparently channeling his inner Jack Hanna these days.

The football player revealed a few days ago in an interview with Phoenix radio station Fox Sports 910 that he had recently purchased a 60-pound tiger cub, named it "Buddy," and hoped to bring it to the team's training camp.

"Yeah, I'm serious, a little baby tiger," he told show host Mike Jurecki. "It's the coolest thing ever. I'm trying to bring him to training camp. I don't know if they'll let me, but we're going to see."

Apparently not content to acquire pets that could one day eat him, Dockett told Jurecki that he had also attempted to purchase a monkey, but despite offering $30,000 to its owner, he could not close the deal.

"The dude would not sell it," Dockett said "I offered him a price that the only other person who would offer him that much is probably Michael Jackson, rest in peace, but he wouldn't even entertain my offer when it came to the monkey."

Which is too bad, really, considering what he had planned for the monkey.

"Could you picture that on game days? I'm coming to the game, I have my monkey with me, he has my jersey on. … Think about it. After the game, the fans see me with the monkey, ticket sales go up, Dockett jersey sales go up. Why? Because they all want to see me with the monkey," he said.
