Party at Weber County trailer park turns violent, 20 detained

A party allegedly turned into a free-for-all fight at a Weber County trailer park early Monday morning, leading to about 20 people being taken into custody, at least four of them with injuries.

Riverdale police Lt. Scott Brenkman said officers were called to a report of a large fight in progress about 3 a.m. at the Riverdale Mobile Estates near 1100 West and 5100 South.

"There was a party at one [of the trailers]. Alcohol was being consumed," Brenkman said. "Apparently, someone at the party felt threatened in some way and called his friends to show up."

The argument, believed to be over a small amount of money owed by the caller, rapidly escalated into a fight between two groups. When police arrived, the crowds broke up, but about 20 people were detained. Questioning of those people continued well into Monday morning.

Brenkman said officers confiscated a knife, baseball bat, crutch, cane, a hammer and other items believed used in the fracas. One person suffered a minor stab wound, while three others sustained non-life threatening head and other "blunt force" injuries.

While details remained sketchy Monday, Brenkman said the incident did not appear to be gang-related.

The altercations reportedly took place near the entrance to the park and across the street in a store parking lot.

No officers were injured.
