New York Red Bull midfielder Tim Cahill will miss the MLS All-Star game on Wednesday after suffering a hard tackle by Real Salt Lake's Yordany Alvarez on Saturday.

Cahill called the challenge "the worst tackle of my life," but the Australian managed to stay in the game for 85 minutes, scoring New York's first goal of the match.

"It was the worst tackle of my life, 17 years of playing," Cahill said after the match. "I just watched it again and I don't know how I got up. I took a nasty knock, but for me, it's all about playing. I guess the adrenalin got the best of me."

Cahill gave fans a look at his rehab efforts, posting this picture on his Instagram account on Sunday: http://instagram.com/p/cVNzM8Ckgl/

"This has been my day and night today and hopefully only just for the rest of the week. Putting the body back together," he wrote.

Alvarez was shown a yellow card for the tackle.
