Priorities out of order

Like many interested citizens, I attended a tour of the impressive new Public Safety Building in downtown Salt Lake and picked up a refrigerator magnet there listing the phone numbers for various public services.

I was dismayed to find the telephone number for "Domestic Violence" two-thirds of the way down the list, just after "Report Potholes" and "Request Tree Service" and just before "Request a Garbage Can."

I'm assuming this list doesn't represent the true thinking of public safety officials on the seriousness of domestic violence, but its position on the list is certainly unfortunate and implies a lack of dedication to the safety of women.

"Domestic Violence" should be listed at the top, right after "Fire Non-Emergency."
