Now that I've learned about the latest heroics of the "liquor police" ("Utah liquor cops bust Salt Lake City bar," Tribune, July 27) I'll sleep better at night.
I'll rest assured, knowing that if someday I fall off my high horse, plunge into depravity and drink a beer, at least that beer will be government-sanctioned. Obviously, Utah bureaucrats know better than I what brand of beer I want to drink.
But they don't just issue decrees, they send out secret agents to enforce them. How brave are these crusaders for virtue to enter the shadowy dens of beer users! How hard it must be to act like normal human beings when actually they're the Beer Police.
I'm sure all right-minded Utahans rejoice knowing that their tax dollars support this Sacred Mission, instead of socialist causes like public education and clean air.
