A North Ogden sex offender is accused of kidnapping a 14-year-old boy at knife-point from an Ogden train station and forcing him to perform sex acts.
The boy was exiting a FrontRunner train on July 3 when Ryan Schaffer, 33, approached the teen and threatened him with a knife, police wrote in court documents filed Wednesday. Schaffer then took the boy "all over the city of Ogden" over the next three days, police wrote.
At one home, near 600 32nd Street, Schaffer allegedly introduced the residents to the boy as his cousin. A resident at the home confirmed the victim's account and said she took pictures of Schaffer and the victim "together at the playground playing," police wrote.
The victim said Schaffer forced him to perform sodomy twice, once at gunpoint. The victim said Schaffer also sodomized him once at knife-point.
Charging documents do not indicate whether the teen previously knew Schaffer.
A warrant was issued Tuesday for Schaffer's arrest on suspicion of failing to register as a sex offender at his North Ogden address, police wrote. On Wednesday, another warrant was issued in connection to the 14-year-old's allegations. Police wrote that they had sought help from other police agencies along the Wasatch Front in the search for Schaffer.
Schaffer was charged with first-degree felony aggravated kidnapping and three counts of third-degree felony unlawful sexual activity with a minor.
In 2007, he pleaded guilty to two second-degree felony counts of sexual exploitation of a minor.
He pleaded guilty in 2012 to misdemeanor charges of attempted sex offender registration and giving false information to a peace officer.
