Civics Central: Taylorsville and West Point consider tax increases, Tooele County discusses wind energy ordinance

Here's your weekly roundup of what local city councils, school boards and other government entities are tackling during regularly scheduled meetings. Government agencies have until 24 hours before a meeting to post their agendas, so check back as this schedule will be updated. All meetings are open to the public, and citizens are welcome to voice their opinions during designated times. If you do wish to speak at a particular meeting, you may need to sign up in advance.

Centerville City Council • Will hold a public hearing on a proposed culinary water impact fee facilities plan; Tuesday, Aug. 6, 7 p.m., 250 N. Main St., Centerville. View the Centerville agenda.

Holladay RDA and City Council • Acting as the Redevelopment Agency (RDA) council members will take a field trip to the Village Center at 5 p.m. and then discuss it along with an update on Millrock's site plan and development agreement, then at 6:30 the council will a hold work session to discuss mobile food trucks, landscaping, a proposed annexation study, bus benches and more; Thursday, Aug. 8, Mount Olympus room of City Hall, 4580 S. 2300 East, Holladay. Ogden City Council and RDA • The Council will hold a work session at 5:30 p.m. to hear a pickleball presentation, to interview Plante & Moran PLLC as a potential consultant for an IT Management and Operations Study, to discuss funding for airport art, and to discuss proposed sewer, water and storm sewer bonds. Salt Lake County Council • Will consider developer Terry Diehl's request to change the zoning for his Tavaci development, at the mouth of Big Cottonwood Canyon, from single-family residential to multipurpose, with the potential for commercial buildings 100 feet tall; Tuesday, Aug. 6, 4 p.m. County Council chambers, first floor, North Building, County Government Center, 2001 S. Sandy City Council • Will hold a public hearing on a proposal to add "solid waste conversion facility" and "waste transfer stations" as new allowed land uses within the Industrial Zone; Tuesday, Aug. 6, 5:15 p.m., 10000 Centennial Pkwy., Sandy. South Jordan City Council • Will receive public comment and consider an ordinance prohibiting enacting any resolutions designating any property in the city as village mixed use or village mixed residential, will also consider a resolution supporting Congress approval of the Marketplace Fairness Act requiring collection of sales tax on Internet sales; Tuesday, Aug. 6, at 6 p.m. in Council chambers, City Hall, 1600 W. Taylorsville City Council • Is considering an approximate 29 percent increase on the city portion of the property tax and will hold a truth-in-taxation hearing; Wednesday, Aug. 7, 6 p.m., 2600 W. Weber County Commission • Will consider approving a contract with Summit Mountain Holding Group, LLC for deposit of cash to ensure completion of developer improvements, will also consider resolution to designate special assessment area to finance road, sewer and other improvements on Powder Mountain, will also consider expanding the county library's board of directors from seven to nine members; Tuesday at 5:30 p.m. in Commission Chambers of the Weber Center at 2380 Washington Blvd., Ogden.
