Ogden police have arrested a woman they say stole more than $20,000 in appliances and equipment from home improvement outlets and then either pawned them or sold them through online classified advertisements.

OPD spokesman John Harvey said the 26-year-old woman had been on law enforcement's radar since June after she was identified as having pawned "high-end" barbecue grills, lawn mowers, leaf blowers, vacuums, pressure washers and hand-held power tools.

The break police were looking for came when detectives discovered the woman had listed several items on the KSL Classifieds web site under the aliases of "Tammy" and "Mandy."Ogden police, working with their counterparts in neighboring Riverdale, then set up purchase of a grill and arranged to meet the woman.

No long after the deal was made, the woman allegedly stole a $700 grill from the Home Depot in Ogden and arrived at the arranged meeting location, where she was arrested and booked into Weber County Jail.

Harvey said police are investigating additional cases throughout Weber and Davis counties where the woman allegedly was observed on security cameras leaving Home Depot and Lowes stores with stolen goods.

Police are asking anyone who may have purchased new grills, power tools, household appliances or lawn care machinery through online classified ads to call the Ogden Police Department at 801-629-8496.
