Utah forecast: Wasatch Front looks for cool..

A welcome retreat from triple-digit temperatures was on the climatological tap for northern Utah this weekend.

The National Weather Service forecast temperatures along the Wasatch Front on Saturday that would be in the low-90s, the same as predicted for Friday.

Southern Utahns, meanwhile, looked for temperatures to cool only a few degrees. The St. George area, which has flirted with highs in the 105-110 range for weeks, looked for temperatures of 101 degrees both Friday and Saturday.

Southwestern Utah also was under a Red Flag Warning for elevated wildfire risk for potentially explosive blazes in the tinder-dry high desert grasslands and scrub forests. The advisory covered a patch of the state stretching from Milford south to Cedar City and St. George.

The Division of Air Quality awarded "Green," or healthy breathability grades to all of the state's regions going into the weekend. The Intermountain Allergy & Asthma website reported chenopods and mold to be at "high" levels on its pollen index, but other allergens were at low levels.

Salt Lake City expected a high Saturday of 94, up slightly from Friday's 92 degrees; Ogden looked for 91 and 88 degrees, respectively; Provo 92 and 91; Logan 91 and 88; Wendover 91 and 89; Duchesne 89 and 87; Cedar City 89 and 88; St. George 101s; and Moab 98 and 88 degrees.
