Tooele police are searching for a woman who disappeared after claiming she was headed to a work meeting.

Police say Jane Ashby, 62, was last seen Wednesday. According to Tooele Capt. Paul Wimmer, Ashby's family became worried when she didn't return, so they called her work and discovered there never had been a meeting. The family then contacted police.

Police tracked Ashby's phone to the south Salt Lake County region, but have been otherwise unable to locate her. Ashby also apparently bought cleaning supplies at Walmart after she disappeared. Wimmer didn't know why Ashby bought the supplies, though he added they could be combined to produce toxic fumes.

Ashby may also suffer from depression, Wimmer added.

Police say Ashby is 5-foot-2, 150 pounds and has brown hair and eyes. She was last seen driving a red Ford Escape with licences plate number B338RG. Police advise caution if trying to contact Ashby and warn against approaching her vehicle due to the potential for toxic fumes.

Police urge anyone with information about Ashby to call 435-882-85600 or text "TOOELETIP" and a message to 274637 (CRIMES).
