Officials in Utah County are looking for the driver of a minivan who they believe could have been involved in a hit-and-run collision that left a cyclist with short-term memory loss.
A deputy from the Utah County Sheriff's Office learned about the crash after he was alerted to a bike with a broken rear tire on the side of Geneva Road shortly after midnight on Friday. After searching the area, the deputy found a 32-year-old Orem man standing by a power pole with head injuries. The man did not remember what had happened to cause his injuries, but he told the deputy that he had been riding home from work along Geneva Road, which runs between Orem and Provo.
Investigators found skid marks leading up to where the bike was lying and a car part with a part number that was traced back to a Toyota Sienna minivan. The sheriff's office believes the vehicle may have been involved in the collision. The color of the minivan is unknown, but it would likely be missing a chunk of its front bumper and could have other front end damage.
Anyone who knows about the crash or the vehicle should contact the Utah County Sheriff's Office at 801-794-3970.
