The Utah Highway Patrol has identified Chet F. DeVito, of Anaheim Hills, Calif., as the man who died in a motorcycle crash in Kane County on Saturday.

The 70-year-old died after failing to negotiate a curve on U.S. Highway 89 north of Kanab, causing the 2009 Harley-Davidson to go off the right side of the road and roll, the UHP reported.

Troopers estimated the crash happened about 4 p.m. but no one saw it. A passing motorist found the crashed motorcycle and reported it to authorities a short time later.

Investigators found a helmet in the debris, but since the chin strap was tightened, UHP officials said it was impossible for the man to have been wearing it.
