• The action buddy-cop movie "2 Guns" topped the box-office charts this weekend, with an estimated $27.4 million. "The Wolverine," in its second week, came in second – while the other new title, "The Smurfs 2," had a less-than-smurfy third-place showing. [Box Office Mojo]

• The idea to put Syfy's "Sharknado" in 200 theaters (none of them in Utah) for Friday midnight showings didn't go so well. [The Hollywood Reporter]
