I love that Paul Rolly wrote about my favorite speed trap on 2100 South by Highland High and Sugar House Park ("Readers reveal SL County speed traps," Tribune, Aug. 1). My wife and I walk this area daily and it is really great entertainment the days the motor cops are out!

We'll often pause to predict who'll be next. There's never a long wait. We always communicate support to the cops and wish they were out more often. It would also be great if they would monitor the traffic into and out of Highland High School parking lot (parents are frequently as bad as the students), which is especially dangerous at lunch time. The principal has made it clear that it is not his responsibility.

One solution to Rolly's point about the six-lane highway is to put that section of road on a diet. There is no need for that many lanes here, it only encourages speeding. We should allow on-street parking in both directions nearly the whole length between 1300 East and 1700 East and make it more comfortable for slower traffic (bicycles) to use the road here.

As a pedestrian and as a driver of cars, motorcycles and bicycles, I fully support the SLCPD "speed traps."
