Layton-based Pluralsight, which develops and distributes training videos for IT and web professionals, has acquired Chicago-based computer-training company, TrainSignal, it was announced Tuesday.

The acquisition, which is valued at $23.6 million, comes two weeks after Pluralsight also bought Seattle-based Peepcode, which offers training videos for open-source computing professionals.

"With this acquisition, Pluralsight has cemented its position as the industry leader in online training for serious software developers and IT pros," Aaron Skonnard, CEO of Pluralsight, said in a statement. "The Pluralsight library now covers the entire training spectrum, providing a rich learning environment for individuals, academic institutions and small, medium and large enterprises."

Pluralsight's library of online computer courses expands from 500 to more than 1,000. Additionally, TrainSignal's founder and CEO, Scott Skinger, and product development director Gary Eimerman will join Pluralsight in executive positions and will lead the company's newly-created IT division.

Before the purchase, Pluralsight had nearly 300,000 users and 3,000 corporate accounts in 100 countries. TrainSignal brings an additional 100,000 individual users and 1,500 corporate accounts. Pluralsight also received $27.5 million in funding from Insight Venture Partners last January.
