Sparkling for freedom

After reading Cheryl Cope's letter in which she writes, "Fireworks are a part of the way we gained our independence," my head is spinning and my heart is all aflutter. I have visions of the Minutemen marching proudly forward, holding aloft sparklers and sending volleys of bottle rockets toward the cowardly Redcoats.

Just wait 'till they haul out the Roman candles!

But hold on a minute. Where did our Founding Fathers buy these fireworks? In the parking lot of the local Harmons? Or maybe directly from our Chinese allies?

I believe that Francis Scott Key is rolling in his grave.
