A 14-year-old girl escaped serious injury after she fell off a cliff while rock climbing in Uintah County.

Uintah County Sheriff's Office officials said the girl was hiking Sunday in an area about 6 miles north of Vernal when she slipped while climbing on the rocks and broke her leg.

Two of her younger cousins were above her on a ledge and unable to move safely.

Rescue crews were able to reach the teen, load her into a rescue basket and lower her down for treatment. Crews also rescued the teen's two younger cousins from the ledge.
