Malfunctioning signals and other unspecified mechanical issues led to delays of 30 to 45 minutes for some FrontRunner rail passengers during the height of the Wednesday morning commute.

Beginning about 6 a.m. and extending for the next two hours, all northbound and southbound trains experienced the delays, which started at about 20 minutes before more than doubling in length.

By 8 .a.m., Utah Transit Authority reported that the problems had been fixed and all trains were back on time.

UTA did not immediately provide specifics on the malfunctions or their cause, though the problems apparently affected the FrontRunner system in general.

There were some reports of cross arms and signal lights apparently not working in synch.
