One child was critical and a mother and two other children were in serious condition Thursday, the day after their minivan was struck by a truck that allegedly ran a red light in Magna.

Unified Police Lt. Justin Hoyal said the minivan was eastbound on 3500 South near 8000 West about 12:30 p.m. Wednesday when the crash occurred.

One child, 5, was flown by helicopter to Primary Children's Medical Center in Salt Lake City and was listed as critical but with non-life threatening injuries. An 11-month-old and 12-year-old were taken to the same hospital by ground ambulance. Their mother, 27, was taken to University Hospital in Salt Lake City.

Hoyal said the driver of the truck, who was not seriously injured, would be cited with running the red light.
