Waukegan, Ill. • Former University of Illinois basketball player and high school star Jereme Richmond faces up to seven years in prison after being convicted of threatening a probation officer.
A jury found the 21-year-old Richmond guilty Thursday in Waukegan. His sentencing is Sept. 26.
Richmond was arrested in April after being accused of telling the probation officer from an earlier case to "be real safe" and gesturing as if he were firing a gun at her.
Richmond was sentenced to probation in 2012 after pleading guilty to unlawful use of a weapon. He also faces potential revocation of that probation.
Richmond was Illinois' top high school player his senior year in Waukegan. He played one season at Illinois and entered the NBA draft but wasn't selected.
