Provo police have identified a child who died when her father accidentally drove a trailer over her as 18-month-old Eliza Scofield.

Police Lt. Mathew Siufanua said Eliza died at the scene of the 8:17 p.m. Thursday accident in the 300 South block of 400 East.

The father was using the trailer to haul concrete and rocks he was excavating alongside his house. He drove forward and felt some bumps, but thought it was due to the roughness of the terrain.

However, his wife came out moments later and found their daughter's body.

Emergency responders arrived, but it was too late to revive the child.
