Salt Lake City firefighters quickly snuffed an apartment blaze Friday afternoon, but one resident was taken to the hospital.

Deputy Fire Chief Dan Walker said the 1 p.m. blaze, which had been doused by about 15 minutes later, was reported at Homestead Studio Suites, 120 East and 2100 South.

In addition to the one fire- and smoke-damaged unit, three other units sustained some water damage.

Walker said damage in the apartment of origin was primarily limited to a bedroom by a fire sprinkler system.

One resident was transported to the hospital for treatment and observation, possibly for smoke inhalation.

The cause of the fire was under investigation.
