Sports briefs: Jamaica's Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce dominates women's 100 meters

track and field • Jamaica's Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce won the women's 100 meters Monday at the world championships in Moscow, finishing in 10.71 seconds.

Silver medalist Murielle Ahoure of the Ivory Coast trailed by a massive 0.22 seconds, more than double the previous top margin in 30 years of world championships. Defending champion Carmelita Jeter of the United States took bronze in 10.94.

Like the mighty Usain Bolt, who won the men's 100 on Sunday, Fraser-Pryce now has two Olympic and two world titles in the 100 at the same age of 26.

The U.S. got its part of the glory, too, when David Oliver led a 1-2 finish in the 110 hurdles with Ryan Wilson second. Oliver finished in 13.00 seconds.

Utahn tied for 12th at U.S. Amateur

golf • Nick Hardy of Northbrook, Ill., shot a 5-under-par 65 to take an early lead at the U.S. Amateur on Monday in Brookline, Mass., while Utahn Zac Blair was tied for 12th place at 1 under after their round at Charles River Country Club. But they both still have to play a round at The Country Club, the more difficult of the two courses hosting this year's tournament.

England's Neil Raymond shot 3 under at the par-70, 7,310-yard Country Club.

The event consists of two days of stroke play followed by six rounds of match play. Half of the 312 golfers played the first round at each course, and they'll switch places on Tuesday.

Joe Parkinson of Alpine shot 8 over at The Country Club, and sat in a tie for 227th place.

Dillon to sub for injured Stewart

AUTO RACING • Stewart-Haas Racing has tabbed Austin Dillon to drive Tony Stewart's No. 14 Chevrolet this week at Michigan International Speedway. Stewart continues to recover from a broken right leg suffered in a sprint car crash Aug. 5 at Southern Iowa Speedway in Oskaloosa, Iowa. Max Papis drove the No. 14 to a 15th-place finish Sunday at Watkins Glen International.

The 23-year-old Dillon holds the points lead in the Nationwide Series.
